I received an invitation letter to HDB party to welcome new residents like myself in my area near Sembawang in November 2016.
Surprised, i asked around if they had received similar invitation prior to key collection. Nope. Hmm.....so i wondered should i go. As im so lazy to go all the way there for nothing.
However i thought since getting a flat is a good thing and having a party to welcome getting one is equally good. Heard there are free food, so why not.
On that day, i booked for Grab the first time using my own mobile.
No hiccups..everything went smoothly, MP Ong Ye Kung was there giving a speech about transport and telling us how lucky we were to have a feeder bus before we move in. I wasnt listening to the rest of the speech, then there was another speaker from interior design company...i started drifting again....as i saw people holding some freebies. That attracted me and so i asked one of them and they showed me where to collect my freebies.
HDB gave me a Blue zip folder, mineral water, booklet of info, memo pad...cant remember the rest. Then another freebie caught my attention, saw people reading an interior design magazine.
I asked again and they gave me some vague info and so i went over to the location to enquire. I got what i want...happy, i decided to settle down with great food but realised the queue damn long, thereafter i was attracted to the caricature beside the food.
LOL there wasnt much queue cos everyone queuing for food, so i picked a young caricaturist who looked like Bruno Mars. He was quiet but cute. It was a while before my turn and i asked if he could draw me and my son, and he agreed. I didnt really like the drawing i guess the older caricaturist was much better.
I was disappointed i couldnt get any food after my caricature was done. So i told my parents to leave. Its getting hot.
My parents said since its a celebration, we should buy 4D. But me and my son suddenly had such bad tummy ache we had to rush to go to toilet. In the end they won the lottery by buying the taxi license plate number. I didnt buy due to tummy ache. Sigh but at least my dad sponsored the taxi fare and gave me some pocket money and treated us a meal.
oh yes almost forgot, while i was collecting the free interior design magazine, i saw some people enquiring the progress of their BTO flats and realised i could bring forward the key collection date.
I didnt do it then but i came back and emailed them to bring forward from Q2 2017 to Q1. As i was haunted by the nightmares for these past 2.5 years of waiting in a shabby place.
